The Corner Bar

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.
I think I found it.  My Cheers bar.  My neighborhood bar.  The place that's the answer to "Where should we go?" when you don't really have plans for the night, but don't want to sit at home.  And my place is The Three Monkeys on 54th and 8th.

You'll be greeted by a bar that houses 36 beers on tap...so many choices!

I've heard it described as a "young professionals bar" and its true that it draws that type of crowd.  But even though is not a classic sports bar, it always has the right games on.  So you can go in and be assured that the prime time MLB/NBA/NFL that you want to watch will be on the number of HD flat-screens that surround the bar.  It's a great place to meet as a group for drinks, as if you can't find a beer that's to your liking from the multiple beers on tap, then you can always go for their specialty cocktails.  Especially now with the weather being so freaking cold, I've taken advantage of their Winter Warmer drinks.  Try a Three Monkeys Mocha with Godiva white chocolate liqueur, peppermint schnapps and coffee!  Can I say YUMM!

But that's not what keeps bringing me back to this place because, lets be honest, any good Irish pub has learned the art of showing what sports fans want to see.  No, I come because the food is flat out amazing!

Check out this menu: Three Monkeys Dinner Menu.  My recommendations are the Diablo Mussels, the Grilled Chicken Wrap and the Funghi flat bread.  I mean, you can't really go wrong as every time I've branched out I've enjoyed what I've gotten.  But I find myself constantly pulled back to the flat bread and wrap.  And my BF?  He literally hasn't gotten anything other than the Diablo Mussels as they are just that good.

The one problem is that the place for sure get's packed, but hey that's a sign of a good spot right? Just don't go on a Thursday, as the office happy hour is in full swing.  Any other day, the crowd will be lively and fun.  Hope to see you there!
